Mon 01 March 2021, 11:35|Tottenham Hotspur

On Sunday afternoon, we returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a commanding 4-0 victory over Burnley.

Gareth Bale started his third Premier League game of the season and made an instant impact as he opened the scoring within just 68 seconds of the first whistle before he delivered a sumptuous raking pass to release Harry Kane on 15 minutes, who fired home for our second. Lucas Moura then made it 3-0 with a sublime finish just after the half-hour mark before Gareth wrapped up the day’s scoring with a fine curling effort on 55 minutes.

Here’s a look at some of the key statistics and numbers behind the game...

Brilliant Bale

7 - Gareth Bale has been involved in seven goals in his last four games for us (four goals, three assists) – his best run since contributing to 12 goals in five games (nine goals, three assists) for Real Madrid between December, 2015, and January, 2016.

3 – Scoring two goals and assisting another in the game, it was the first time Gareth had been involved in three goals in a single game since scoring a hat-trick against Japanese side Kashima Antlers in the semi-finals of the 2018 FIFA World Club Cup. It was the first time he had contributed to three goals in a league game since January, 2016, when he scored a hat-trick in Real Madrid’s 5-0 La Liga win over Deportivo La Coruna.

2 – It was the Welshman’s first brace in a game since he scored twice for Real Madrid in a 2-2 La Liga draw with Villareal in September, 2019.

5 – After just three Premier League starts for us this season, our number nine has now been directly involved in five goals in the competition (three goals, two assists).

5 – In his last two appearances against Burnley, the forward has been involved in five goals (three goals, two assists).

50 – Gareth’s first goal against Burnley was his 50th league goal in England while at 68 seconds, it was the quickest goal ever scored against Burnley in the Premier League.
