Tottenham Hotspur
On Sunday evening, we progressed to the fourth round of the FA Cup with a professional 5-0 win over Marine.
Carlos Vinicius got us underway with two goals in the space of six first-half minutes, tapping home on 24 minutes before repeating the feat on the half-hour mark. Lucas Moura then made it three on 32 minutes before Vinicius completed his first half-hat-trick eight minutes before the interval. Alfie Devine then scored the first professional goal of his career as he added number five on the hour mark.
Here’s a look at some of the key statistics and numbers behind the game...
Potent Vinicius
1 - Carlos Vinicius scored his first hat-trick for the Club against Marine. It was just the second time he has picked up the match ball in his career and the first since August, 2017, when he hit a treble against Leixões Sport Club for Real Sporte Club.
3 - After scoring his first three goals for the Club at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Vinicius has now opened his account away from home with three goals on Merseyside.
9 - Carlos has been involved in nine goals in as many appearances since joining us on loan from Benfica in October, 2020.
4 - The forward has now scored four goals in his last three starts for us.
Trebling up
99 - Carlos Vinicius is now the 99th player to score a hat-trick in a Spurs shirt.
14 - Vinicius is the first player in 14 years to score an FA Cup hat-trick for a side managed by Jose Mourinho since Frank Lampard hit a treble for Chelsea against Macclesfield in the competition in January, 2007.
3 - The Brazilian was also the first Spurs player to score a first-half hat-trick for over three years - Harry Kane was the last, doing so in a 4-0 win over Stoke in 2017.
30 - It was our 30th hat-trick in the FA Cup - our highest return of trebles in any cup competition and five more than we have scored in the Premier League to date.
5 - In our last five FA Cup campaigns, we have now scored five hat-tricks - Harry Kane vs Fulham and Heung-Min Son vs Millwall in 2016/17, Fernando Llorente in 2017/18 against Rochdale and in 2018/19 vs Tranmere Rovers and now Vinicius against Marine in 2020/21.
3 - Having gone the entire 2019/20 season without one, we now have scored three hat-tricks so far this term. Heung-Min Son scored our first as part of his four-goal haul against Southampton in September, Harry Kane followed that up 11 days later with a treble against Maccabi Haifa and now Vinicius has made it three with his trio of goals against Marine.
2 - It was our first hat-trick in the FA Cup for two years after Fernando Llorente hit a treble against Tranmere Rovers in January, 2019. Like Carlos’ hat-trick, Llorente’s also came on Merseyside. Previously, we hadn’t scored a treble in the metropolitan county since February, 1928, when Taffy O’Callaghan hit four away to Everton in a 5-3 win.
7 - Eight of our last 12 hat-tricks have come away from home - Harry Kane vs Leicester, May, 2017, Kane vs Hull City, May, 2017, Kane v APOEL, September, 2017, Kane vs Burnley, December, 2017, Fernando Llorente vs Tranmere Rovers, January, 2019, Lucas Moura v Ajax, May, 2019, Heung-Min Son vs Southampton, September, 2020 and now Carlos Vinicius vs Marine, January, 2021.
3 - Three out of our last five hat-tricks have been scored by Brazilians – Lucas Moura vs Huddersfield Town, April, 2019, Lucas vs Ajax, May, 2019 and now Carlos Vinicius vs Marine, January, 2021.

3 - Lucas scored a goal and provided an assist in a single game for us for just the third time in his Spurs career - two of the three games have come this season (Spurs 5-0 Bournemouth, 2018/19, Ludogorets 1-3 Spurs and Marine 0-5 Spurs, 2020/21).
4 - The Brazilian scored his first goal from a direct free-kick in over four years - his last from such a position came in October, 2016, for PSG against Nancy.

3 - He has now scored for our Under-18s, Under-23s and first team this season.

1 - It was the first time that Hugo Lloris, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and Harry Kane have not been involved in a domestic game for us this season.
1 - Academy graduate Harvey White made his first start for the Club.
8 - It was Gareth Bale’s first FA Cup appearance for almost eight years – his last game in the competition had come away at Leeds United in January, 2013.
75 - We enjoyed 75 per cent of the possession in the game - the most we have had in any game this season with our next highest recorded coming in our 1-1 Premier League draw against Newcastle United and also in our 3-1 Carabao Cup quarter-final win over Stoke City (both 66 per cent). It was also the most possession we have held in a game since enjoying 79 per cent against Newcastle United in a 1-0 Premier League defeat at the start of the 2019/20 campaign.
