Martin Ho named February’s WSL Manager of the Month

Martin Ho has been named the Barclays Women’s Super League Manager of the Month for February.

Having collected an important six points last month in the WSL, where we scored nine goals across three games, Martin has claimed the monthly award for the first time in his career and becomes just our second Head Coach to pick up the award in England’s top flight.

Joining us in the summer from SK Brann, Martin has enjoyed a tremendous first campaign in north London to date and, last month, his side showed plenty of quality in the forward areas and resilience to bounce back from any setbacks.

Beginning the month with a London derby trip to West Ham United, we came from behind to earn a 2-1 win over the Hammers at Chigwell Construction Stadium and, despite suffering defeat at home to Chelsea, we responded in fantastic fashion at Villa Park.

A sensational performance in the Midlands saw us hit seven goals against Aston Villa as we ran out 7-3 winners – the second-highest goalscoring match in WSL history – and continues to solidify our spot in the top five of the current standings.

Speaking about winning the award for the first time in his career, Martin told us: “I’m thankful for everyone that voted, but credit to all the staff and players because they are the ones that enable you to be in this position, so it’s not just an accolade and honour for me, it’s for all the staff and players around me. They deserve a lot of credit – it’s a collective effort.

“We’ve definitely taken steps in the right direction and we are working towards where we want to be and where we want to go. It’s seven months into what we’re building here, but it doesn’t just come from me – it comes from everyone. I’m just glad we are working towards the ambitions and goals we have set and hopefully there’s a lot more to come.”

We return to Barclays Women’s Super League action on Sunday 15 March after the current international break as we take on Everton at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (11.55am UK) and Martin is looking forward to being back in N17 to build on the positive momentum from last month.

“It’s a wonderful occasion for fans to collectively connect and create an atmosphere,” he added. “I’m really excited for that game and, after this international break, we want everyone back fit and healthy so we can continue to push forward and build momentum like we did in February.”
