Arsenal vs Spurs | Key stats | Something about a north London derby

Thu 26 March 2026, 14:00|Tottenham Hotspur

It’s all eyes on the Emirates Stadium for the north London derby this weekend in our final Barclays Women’s Super League game ahead of next month’s international break.

Always a highly contested battle on the pitch from minute one until the final whistle, it's usually argued that any type of form can be put to one side heading into the fixture and we’ll be looking to do exactly that after suffering back-to-back defeats in the WSL for this first time, with an eye to return to winning ways this weekend.

And we have certainly enjoyed our trips on the road this term. We are currently the highest-scoring team in away fixtures so far this season, scoring 20 goals in total, but we have also conceded more than 20, becoming the first team in WSL history to score and concede 20 or more away goals in the same campaign.

But we will have to overcome a resolute Arsenal defence in the WSL. The Gunners have only conceded seven goals from open play this term and have preserved clean sheets in all their league games in 2026.

Making the short trip to N5 this weekend, who scores first in the contest could play a key part in the final result as, with previous history that shows, Arsenal are unbeaten in 66 WSL games when they have opened the scoring on home soil.

It could be a memorable evening for captain Bethany England as she could make her 200th appearance in the WSL if she was to feature in the north London derby and our number nine certainly enjoys a London derby – scoring 18 goals in total in these type of games, joint-highest with Beth Mead.

Here are some other headline pre-match facts, courtesy of Opta, ahead of the north London derby:

  • Our only win against Arsenal in the Women’s Super League came at home in December 2023 (1-0), but we haven’t scored in four league games against the Gunners since.
  • Arsenal are averaging the most points per game in the WSL in 2026, winning four of five games (2.6 – D1); only in 2017 (first 9), 2015 (first 6) and 2012 (all 14) have the Gunners had a better unbeaten start to a calendar year.
  • On MD17 against West Ham United, Smilla Holmberg (19y 161d) became the youngest player in WSL history to assist two goals in a game for Arsenal and only the second player in the competition’s history to assist twice on their first start after Karen Carney in April 2011.
  • Since her first appearance back at Arsenal in February last year, only Khadija Shaw (70 minutes) has a better goal involvement rate in the Women’s Super League than Chloe Kelly (73 – 7 goals, 5 assists – min. 150 mins) - on MD18 against West Ham United, she netted the Gunners’ first WSL hat-trick since October 2020 (Vivianne Miedema vs Tottenham Hotspur).
