A trip down memory lane | Our historic win at City in the 2021/22 campaign

Thu 19 March 2026, 10:00|Tottenham Hotspur

One of our very best performances on the road in the Women’s Super League era saw us come away with a 2-1 victory at Manchester City in September, 2021.

Beginning our 2021/22 campaign in England’s top flight with a 1-0 win over Birmingham City at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium the week before, we followed that up with an impressive result against the Citizens, coming from behind to earn the three points at Joie Stadium.

To put things into perspective at the time, we condemned City to their first loss at home in 33 games while we secured our first-ever victory over them since our promotion in 2019.

Laurne Hemp handed the home side the lead early on in the contest, heading home from Alex Greenwood’s corner, but we found the equaliser shortly after the restart as Rachel Williams converted Chioma Ugobagu’s low ball.

Then, with four minutes remaining on the clock, we completed our comeback in dramatic fashion. Angela Addison’s cross met by Rosella Ayane and, after taking a number of deflections, the ball was eventually turned into her own net by goalkeeper Benameur Teiab.
