Unforgettable Solanke scorpion kick wins another Premier League award

Fri 13 March 2026, 13:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Dominic Solanke’s sensational scorpion kick has been voted as the Premier League’s Guinness Goal of the Month for February.

The audacious strike, which looped over the head of Gianluigi Donnarumma to level proceedings and complete the fightback from a two-goal deficit in our 2-2 home draw with Manchester City, came in just Solanke’s second start of the season.

Our number 19 returned from an ankle injury in our home FA Cup third round tie with Aston Villa in January after a spell of five months on the sidelines, and quickly made up for lost time, with his double against the Cityzens making up two of his six goals in the 12 games since his comeback.

Dom, who becomes the first Spurs player to claim the award since Erik Lamela’s rabona in March, 2021, (which also scooped up the Puskas Award), had to swipe his right leg backwards and jump to put Conor Gallagher’s cross goalwards, but the connection to flick the ball over the imposing Italian goalkeeper was a thing of beauty.

This becomes the third accolade that the striker has won for the goal, after winning a close battle with Rio Kyerematen for our Goal of the Month award and receiving the Premier League’s Creative Moment of the Month honour on Thursday.
