Spurs 0-3 Forest | Every word of Bruno Saltor's post-match press conference

Sun 22 March 2026, 20:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Bruno Saltor spoke to the media after our 3-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.

Here's what he had to say...

It was a big match for the club, the fans turned up, where do you think it went wrong on the pitch?

Bruno: "I think in the small details. I thought for 44 minutes in the first half we were the better team. I think any mistake that we make, any small detail goes against us and we're not able to capitalise on the opposition's mistakes, and probably that affected the team. That's our job as coaches, to keep helping the players. As you can see, the players, they care and they are 100 per cent trying their best, but at the moment, it's not enough. We need to minimise any mistakes because we know that we're going to concede a goal."

In terms of the double substitution at half-time - was Micky van de Ven injured?

Bruno: "No, it was a sub with the intention to give more dynamic in the left side and have more legs going forward. I thought that was like a tactical sub."

How do you turn this around? The whole mood? This stadium is not a fortress for the team...

Bruno: "Completely. The best way to do it is focusing every day on doing your best, trying to be the best version of yourself, trying to push through difficulties, focusing on every action, not focusing on the end goal. It's just focusing and giving your best every day. That sounds a topic, but that's the only thing that you can do. Players, obviously, us, we need to reflect on ourselves and try to get the best version because we need it now."

How is Igor?

Bruno: "It's a personal, family issue and obviously it's a difficult moment for him. I'm just trying to support the best way we can."

Was it something he knew about during the game or found out after?

Bruno: "I'm going to leave it there because I think, as I said, it's a personal matter."

A three-week gap now until the next game, results haven't been great, do you still feel as a coaching staff you'll be given the time to turn this around?

Bruno: "Yeah, of course. We feel the support from everyone at the club and we're just focusing on how we can help the players. Obviously, a lot of players, they're leaving now for the internationals and as soon as they get back on the training ground, we'll try to get everyone up to speed and prepare for the next game."

It's 13 games without a win in the Premier League, what gives you the belief that you can get out of this situation?

Bruno: "It gives me the belief that the last two games against Liverpool and Atletico Madrid, I thought they were great performances from the first minute to the last minute. The first half today, to be honest, I think we should have been 1-0 up at least. If you look at the stats, we created clear chances, but as I said, right now, every small detail is going against us and it's about turning that around. That's what gives me confidence."

What can you say about the fans. I'm sure you were on the bus, what did you make of the reception from the fans before the game? What was the impact on the players?

Bruno: "I thought they were outstanding from the first minute when we were coming in and to the last minute. They stayed, they showed their support. It was quite emotional for everyone on the bus and that's what we need because right now, all of us, we have the same goal and that is to fight until the end of the season and stay in the Premier League as this club deserves."

On the other half-time sub, was that also tactical?

Bruno: "No, everything was tactical. It was a tactical sub."

You said the first half was good but the second not so good, what was the difference between the two?

Bruno: "The players were affected by the rhythm of the game and we couldn't find that rhythm to create more chances. The first half, the first 44 minutes, I thought were good, really good, creating chances, getting into the box. In the second half, probably, we were unable to deal with the weight of the game."

What's the latest on Mathys Tel - did he come off injured?

Bruno: "Now, we're still assessing and seeing if he can go with the national team."
