Duo in England squad for UEFA U21 EURO qualifiers

Fri 20 March 2026, 12:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Archie Gray and Ashley Phillips have been named in Lee Carsley's 23-man England squad for the UEFA U21 EURO qualifiers this month.

Archie has made 31 appearances across all competitions so far this season and has been a standout performer of late with recent midfield displays drawing high praise from Head Coach Igor Tudor.

The 20-year-old midfielder scored his first senior goal in our 1-0 win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League in December, adding another against Newcastle United, and his tireless energy and versatility to cover across the backline has been indispensable to the side, completing the full match in the previous seven league games.

Centre-back Ashley, 20, is enjoying an impressive season on loan at Championship side Stoke City and has started 29 of his 33 league appearances to date, even stepping up to captain the side in their 3-3 draw with Ipswich Town earlier this month. He was also voted the club's Player of the Month for December.

The Young Lions resume their campaign to reach the 2027 EURO Finals in Albania and Serbia, having won five from five in their qualifying group stage so far, and face a trip to Andorra on Friday 27 March (6.30pm UK) before hosting Moldova on Tuesday 31 March (7pm UK) at Norwich City's Carrow Road.

All games will be shown live on the official England YouTube channel.
