On-loan Yusuf Akhamrich once again starred for Bristol Rovers on Saturday afternoon, notching a goal and assist to help his side to a 3-1 home win over Grimsby Town in League Two.

The 20-year-old Academy product set up team-mate Joe Quigley to put the hosts 2-0 up inside just seven minutes at the Memorial Stadium before adding his own name to the scoresheet on 63 minutes, rolling a low shot into the corner of the net to complete the scoring after Andy Cook had pulled one back for the visitors. Kofi Balmer was responsible for Rovers’ opener.

Yusuf was withdrawn on the 90-minute mark to another warm reception from the hosts’ supporters.

His goal was his fourth since linking up with Bristol Rovers in January. After scoring twice on his full debut against Newport County on the last day of last month, he swiftly followed that up by scoring his side’s opener on their way to a 2-0 home victory over Walsall on 3 February.

Yusuf’s Development Squad team-mate Alfie Dorrington also registered an assist in League Two on Saturday, the defender teeing up Salford City team-mate Zach Awe to net their side’s second goal in an eventual 3-2 defeat at Cheltenham Town.
