Our Women’s Academy players duo helped England Under-19s make an emphatic start to their final round of European Championship qualifiers with a 5-0 win over Lativa on Thursday afternoon.

Goalkeeper Sophie Jackson, who has featured regularly for her nation at youth level in recent months, started and preserved a clean sheet for the Young Lionesses in Switzerland – with all their qualifiers taking place there this month.

Having earned a maiden call-up to the Under-19s squad, Jhanaie Pierre was named in the starting XI and completed 60 minutes for Lauren Smith’s side, who currently sit top of their qualifying after the first set of games with a place in this summer’s tournament in Bosnia and Herzegovina up for grabs.

The Young Lionesses are back in action on Sunday 12 April as they take on Wales in the second of their three qualifiers in Switzerland.
