Amanda Nilden’s Sweden registered a clean sheet, Eveliina Summanen started as Finland claimed victory while there was late heartbreak for Anna Csiki’s Hungary side on a busy international Friday for our players.
The day started with Charlotte Grant and Clare Hunt in action for Australia as they ran out 2-0 winners over Argentina in an international friendly in Melbourne. ‘Charli’ provided the assist for the opening goal while Clare was part of the backline that preserved a clean sheet.
Amanda earned her 13th cap for Sweden as she started in their goalless draw with Italy in the UEFA Nations League. The defender started the game in Parma and completed 71 minutes on the night.
There was late drama in Hungary’s clash with Serbia as Allegra Poljak netted a 90+6th winner for Serbia to earn them a victory in their Nations League group. Midfielder Anna was named in the starting XI for her nation and played the full match in Stara Pazova.
Eveliina started and played 75 minutes for Finland, with the midfielder replaced by Olga Ahtinen for the final quarter of an hour, as they secured a 3-0 win over Belarus. Finland remain second in their Nations League group, three points behind Serbia who they will face in their final match of the competition on Tuesday (2 June).
Also competing in Nations League A Group One, Martha Thomas was a second half substitute for Scotland as they were beaten 1-0 by Austria. The forward was introduced in the 73rd minute, replacing Kathleen McGovern, while Julia Hicklsberger-Fuller’s strike just after the hour mark was enough to earn the win for Austria.
Lize Kop started as the Netherlands suffered a 4-0 loss to Germany in the Nations League A Group One. That was our number one’s 10th cap for her nation.
Olivia Holdt was an unused substitute in Denmark’s 1-0 victory over Wales in Odense.
