We are delighted to announce that Drew Spence has signed a new, long-term contract with the Club.
Since joining us in June, 2022 from Chelsea, the 33-year-old has made 75 appearances in our colours to date, scoring on 10 occasions.
Drew Spence said: “I'm really happy. I feel so comfortable here at the Club and I can see where it’s progressing to. I can see that progression and it shows in our results so far.
“It feels like a family. The feeling amongst the girls is great and we're learning every day. It's been a massive six months for us, and we have to keep taking these steps.”
Our Head Coach Martin Ho said: "Drew has fully earned this new contract. What sets Drew apart is not just how she plays, but how she behaves. She leads by example every single day. Her work ethic is unwavering, her competitiveness is infectious and her willingness to take responsibility has become a benchmark for others. Her personality carries weight in this group, she brings experience, honesty and a calm authority that strengthens the entire environment.
"She adds huge value to our young players who look to her, and equally to our senior players who respect her presence and consistency. Drew is a connector in the dressing room, a driver on the pitch and a person who embodies what we want this club to represent.
"This new deal isn’t just a reward for her performances, it’s a statement about her growth, her leadership, and her importance to the future of this team."
Arriving from Chelsea ahead of the 2022/23 campaign, the experienced midfielder made an instant impact in Lilywhite, netting on her competitive debut in a 2-1 win over Leicester City before going on to make 28 appearances in total, scoring five goals.
Although the following term was hampered by injury, Drew continued to play a key part in our historic campaign as we reached the Women’s FA Cup Final for the first time in our history – where she started in the showpiece event at Wembley Stadium. The Jamaica international continued to be one of our most consistent performers throughout the 2024/25 campaign, starting in 19 of 21 games in all competitions, scoring three times.
Having won 11 major trophies in a glittering career so far, the tough-tackling midfielder has been a key component of Martin Ho’s side in his first few months in charge, playing in nine of our 10 WSL games so far, as we sit just one point shy of last season’s tally of 20 points in fewer than 11 games.
On the international stage, Drew competed in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand with Jamaica, helping them to reach the knockout stages for the first time. She has 19 caps to date, scoring two goals.
