Our final Barclays Women’s Super League game of the calendar year sees us face Manchester United on Sunday afternoon – a fixture where we could create a new record in England’s top flight.
Travelling up to Leigh Sports Village this weekend (kick-off 2.30pm), we head into our latest away trip with 19 points accumulated in 10 WSL games so far as we currently sit fifth in the table – just one point behind our opponents.
If we were to beat United on Sunday in our final league fixture of 2025, it will then see us beat our record for the most points at this stage of the campaign – previously 21 in the 2021/22 season.
In fact, we could match or surpass our points tally from last term (20) in less than 11 games if we were to claim a point or more from this weekend’s encounter.
Despite our poor record against the Red Devils, we have still impressed against the Champions League sides this term, pushing league winners Chelsea all the way in a 1-0 defeat while holding Arsenal to a goalless draw last month.
Having netted a dramatic late winner against Aston Villa last weekend, Olivia Holdt has now registered five goals across all competitions – three in the WSL and two in the Women’s League Cup – in 12 appearances and is our current top goalscorer.
Midfielder Drew Spence could also make her 200th WSL appearance on Sunday and would become just the sixth player in the league’s history to reach that milestone, while the first overseas player to do so.
