Hanna Wijk has become our second signing of the winter.
The Sweden international arrives in north London following a five-year spell at BK Häcken, where she made over a century of appearances, and has penned a long-term contract with us.
Having recently turned 22, the defender has enjoyed a successful few seasons in her homeland, winning the Damallsvenskan title twice and also the Swedish Cup in 2021.
But now she is set for her first adventure out of Sweden and will arrive in north London in January, 2026.
So why not get to know our latest signing with 10 things you might not know about her.
An impactful first memory
We all have that very first memory of kicking the football or watching from the stands – but Hanna has a unique first connection to the beautiful game.
After getting involved in football through her friends, she started training with a club in her hometown and in one of her first sessions, the young defender took a ball in her face which caused her nose to start to bleed.
She certainly got the full brunt of what football is all about!
But her determination to keep going has now seen her rack up over 100 senior appearances and represent her nation on the international stage.
Leading by example early on
Leadership has been at the forefront of Hanna’s career from the early stages.
She started her youth career at Floda BoIF before moving to Lerum IF, where she spent five seasons with the latter club and in that time, she wore the captain’s armband – showcasing her leadership abilities in her teenage years.
Even in her final season for Häcken, she was named one of the vice-captains for the squad that secured the Damallsvenskan (Sweden’s top flight) title.
Away from the pitch
While football will be at the forefront of her career, Hanna enjoys playing board games, helping take her mind away from the pitch and relax with team-mates.
Speaking to us on her first day at Hotspur Way, the 22-year-old revealed that she enjoyed challenging herself at board games like Uno and Skip Bo – a card game that’s already very popular among our squad, with some players competing against each other on away trips.
Alongside this, she also revealed that she does some cooking and goes out with friends to relax.
Favourite food
Hanna revealed that her favourite food is a good bowl of pasta, as well as enjoying a bit of Asian cuisine.
An eye for goal
While she might be a defender at trade in her senior career, it was very much a different story in her youth career.
Hanna was originally a striker and in the fourth division in Sweden, she actually scored around 40 goals. However, during her time with the national team at the age of 15 and 16, they thought she would make a good right-back and the rest is history.
Silverware
Hanna has enjoyed plenty of success during her time with Häcken.
She joined the Gothenburg side in 2020 and originally played in their Under-19s side, before going on to make her first team debut in the July of that year and, in her first season, she was part of the squad that lifted the Damallsvenskan title.
The trophy success continued in the following season, this time winning the Swedish Cup – where she started and completed the full match in their 3-0 win over Eskilstuna United.
Then, in the campaign just gone, she helped her side to their second league title in four years – winning the top flight by four points.

International call-up
Having been a regular member for Sweden throughout their youth age groups, in September, 2022, Hanna received her first call-up to senior squad for a preliminary training camp.
And guess who was also handed their first call-up at that exact time – our very own Matilda Vinberg! A special moment for the pair to share together on their first training camp with the senior squad.
Hanna was given her senior debut around two years later, starting in the 8-0 win over Luxembourg in October, 2024, as part of Sweden’s qualifiers for the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 in Switzerland.
Creator
During the 2024 campaign, Hanna registered an impressive 11 assists in 26 league games as she led the assists charts.
Four of those actually came in one single game for Häcken – an 8-1 win over Linkopings in October, 2024.
Familiar faces
Alongside knowing Matilda from their time in the senior squad for Sweden, Hanna has come across a fair few of our players – whether playing with them or against them in Sweden.
She starred next to Josefine Rybrink and Anna Csiki in their spells at Häcken, while she has faced Olivia Holdt (FC Rosengard), Olga Ahtinen (Linkopings) and Charlotte Grant (Vittsjo GIK).
