Club hits Champions League goals milestone

Thu 11 December 2025, 11:00|Tottenham Hotspur

On Tuesday night, we reached the milestone of 100 goals scored in the Champions League as we swept Slavia Prague aside 3-0 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

We headed into the game sitting on 99 goals scored in the UEFA Champions League proper and just 26 minutes in we had reached our century, with some help from the visitors, as David Zima headed into his own net to give us the lead.

Despite it being an own goal, Zima’s headed actually added some interesting symmetry to our first 100 goals in the competition as our first ever goal in the Champions League proper was also an own goal, coming in a 2-2 draw with Werder Bremen back in September, 2010.

Against Slavia, we then racked up goals 101 and 102 with Mohammed Kudus and then Xavi Simons scoring from the penalty spot. Those goals doubling the number of penalty scorers we have had in the competition with only Roman Pavlyuchenko and Harry Kane having scored spot kicks for us previously in European football’s elite club competition.

Across our first 100 goals in the competition, we have scored some iconic goals - and there is no better place to start than at the San Siro in October, 2010, where a star was born. Gareth Bale scored a sensational second-half hat-trick as we valiantly attempted to come back against the reigning European champions Internazionale and, while it wasn’t enough to even secure a point for us on the night, it was enough to change both his and our trajectory.

Later that campaign, we reached the quarter-finals in what was our debut in the competition. To get there, we returned to the San Siro to play our first ever knockout game, this time against AC Milan. With 10 minutes to go in Milan, a breakaway from Aaron Lennon before a fine finish from Peter Crouch saw us head back to White Hart Lane for the second leg in control of the tie, going through with a 1-0 win on aggregate, before we were ultimately knocked out by Real Madrid in the next round.

Our 25th goal in the competition was also an own goal, our third in a 3-1 win over CSKA Moscow, which was our first Champions League win at Wembley in December, 2016.

The following campaign was one to remember, beating reigning European champions Real Madrid on an unforgettable night at Wembley to secure qualification for the knockout stages.

A terrific performance from Dele powered us to a 3-1 victory that night, scoring the opening two goals of the game. Harry Kane's first Champions League hat-trick also came in the 2017/18 season, scoring all three goals in a 3-0 win away at APOEL in September, 2017.

An 89th-minute winner by Kane was our 50th Champions League goal, securing a 2-1 victory over PSV at Wembley, which turned out to be a pivotal moment in our remarkable run to the Champions League final in the 2018/19 season.

A win over Inter and a draw away at the Camp Nou in the two games that followed that late win over PSV were enough to reach the knockout stages of the competition for the third time.

Jan Vertonghen's brilliant performance from left-wing back in the round of 16 first leg at home to Borussia Dortmund then followed, providing Heung-Min Son with the opening goal after 47 minutes, before he got on the end of Serge Aurier's cross to double the lead in the 83rd minute. Fernando Llorente's header three minutes later made it 3-0 on the night - our final Champions League game at Wembley - before Harry Kane made it a 4-0 win on aggregate in the away leg.

Sonny scored the first Champions League goal at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, netting with 12 minutes to go in a 1-0 win in the first leg of the quarter-final against Manchester City. Eight days later, he then bagged a brace as we secured a place in our first Champions League semi final. A 73rd-minute goal from Llorente was the all-important goal to secure a 4-4 aggregate victory on away goals after a seven-goal thriller in Manchester.

Goals 61, 62, and 63 hold a special place in our history, all scored by Lucas Moura in our extraordinary comeback victory over Ajax in Amsterdam on Wednesday 8 May, 2019. We lost the first leg 1-0 and trailed the second leg right up until Lucas’ equalising goal with the last kick of the game, securing the unlikeliest 3-3 aggregate victory on away goals to reach our first ever Champions League final.

The 75th Champions League goal in our history came in the third goal of the game and the second of a Sonny double in a 4-0 away win over Red Star Belgrade in November, 2019.

One month later, Ryan Sessegnon scored on his full Spurs debut, which saw us become the first English side to score in 14 consecutive Champions League away games in a 3-1 defeat to Bayern Munich.

Randal Kolo Muani's double away at his parent club PSG last month saw us reach 99 Champions League goals, before we achieved the century in last night's 3-0 win against Slavia Prague.

29 different players have scored for us in the Champions League, in 12 different countries, and against 24 different clubs.
