Cristian Romero's Argentina suffered a rare defeat in South America World Cup qualifying on Tuesday night.

Turning to youth football, Dane Scarlett, currently on loan at Oxford United, wore the captain's armband for England's Under-20s Elite League team and led from the front with a goal in the 2-0 win against Romania, finishing from close range from Kaide Gordon’s corner. Luca Gunter and Ashley Phillips were unused substitutes.

Josh Keeley was also in Euro U21 qualifying action for the Republic of Ireland, the goalkeeper starting and completing the 90 as ROI were held to a 2-2 draw by Latvia.
