Mikey Moore scored two first-half goals as England began their European Under-17 Championship campaign with a 4-0 win over France in Larnaca on Tuesday night.

The attacking midfielder put the Young Lions ahead inside two minutes, converting Leo Shahar’s cross at the back post.

And after Baylee Dipepa had doubled England’s lead, Mikey produced a trademark solo run and finish to make it 3-0 on the 40-minute mark.

Ethan Nwaneri rounded off the scoring six minutes after the break as the Young Lions made the perfect start to their Group D fixtures.

Mikey was substituted on 73 minutes, with Club team-mate Callum Olusesi entering the action off the bench at the same time as England made several changes.

Next up is a clash with Portugal on Friday evening (6.30pm UK).
