Ange Postecoglou will weigh up ‘a couple of options’ in the left-back role ahead of tonight’s huge Premier League encounter against Manchester City at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (8pm UK).

With Destiny Udogie, Ben Davies and Ryan Sessegnon all sidelined for the rest of the season, Ange has started Emerson Royal and Oliver Skipp in the position in our last three matches against Chelsea, Liverpool and Burnley on Saturday.

Skippy played for an hour against Burnley before Ange made a switch, with Radu Dragusin coming off the bench to partner Cuti Romero centrally and Micky van de Ven moving to the left. That led to Micky raiding forward and grabbing a superb winner eight minutes from time.

Whoever starts there has the task of facing a formidable duo down City’s right - likely Kyle Walker and Bernardo Silva - with the visitors needing to win to maintain their title charge - they’ve won seven matches on the spin ahead of this evening, scoring four-plus in six of them.

Asked about the left-back role on Monday, Ange told us: “We’ll see, we’ll assess it. I thought Skippy did a good job for us, we’ve played Emerson in there as well and Micky did very well for those last 15 minutes. We’ll have a look at it, a lot of it will depend on how we set up the rest of the team, obviously, because Yves Bissouma (injured) misses out as well. We’ve a couple of options in there and we’ll come up with one that works for us.”
