Sonny named Player of the Match after Villa Park triumph

Heung-Min Son has been named our supporters' HSBC Player of the Match after he was involved in three of our goals as we enjoyed a comprehensive 4-0 win over Aston Villa on Sunday.

Claiming his sixth Player of the Match award of the season, Sonny claimed 46 per cent of the vote in an exclusive poll on our official app straight after the game.

Taking up the number nine role for the second game in a row, the forward was involved in three goals as we enjoyed a sensational afternoon at Villa Park.

After James Maddison had given us the lead on 50 minutes in the West Midlands, Sonny released Brennan Johnson three minutes later for the Welshman to clip home and double our advantage. Our number seven later rattled home our third with a sublime finish in the first minute of additional time before he rolled in Timo Werner three minutes later to score his second in as many games.

It was the third time this season already that the South Korean has produced three goal contributions in one game (also Burnley (5-2) and Newcastle (4-1).
