Ange Postecoglou said he 'probably had the best view in the house’ of Pedro Porro’s stunning winner against Burnley in the third round of the FA Cup on Friday night.
We’d had the better of the tie at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - 63% possession, 16-10 on shots, 7-1 on target - when the flying full-back delivered the decisive blow on 78 minutes.
It was all Pedro’s work, as well. Burnley goalkeeper Arijanet Muric threw the ball out to Zeki Amdouni, but Pedro read it and snapped in to win possession, 35 yards from goal. He strode forward a few yards before unleashing a shot that dipped into the top corner, with Muric motionless. It was a goal worthy of winning any match but, for the time being, it’s a goal that takes us into the fourth round draw on Monday evening.
As soon as it left his boot it was going in. Credit to Pedro, he’s been outstanding for us this year
Speaking to our Review Show, Ange said: “It was special, and I probably had the best view in the house. As soon as it left his boot it was going in. Credit to Pedro. He’s been outstanding for us this year. He works awfully hard at his game, but he’s also an exceptional footballer. He’s been a bit unlucky with a few strikes, but the way the game was going, we were going to need something a bit special, because we’d been a bit wasteful in front of goal.”

Speaking at his post-match press conference, Ange said: “You can sit there and analyse it, but ultimately in a cup competition it's about being successful to get through to the next round, because in every game you're going to play in a knockout competition it's going to take something on the day to get it done. Sometimes that can be something conventional, sometimes it's unconventional or something special like tonight - as long as it gets the job done.”
