A look back at Spurs Women in the fourth round of the FA Cup

Wed 10 January 2024, 15:00|Tottenham Hotspur

We are back in Adobe Women’s FA Cup on Sunday afternoon (2pm KO) as we welcome Sheffield United to Leyton Orient’s Brisbane Road in the fourth round.

Our last five games at this stage of the competition have seen us win four of those, scoring an impressive 16 goals in the process.

We take a look back at those victories…

Crystal Palace 0-3 Spurs - 2018/19

In the season that saw us promoted to the FA Women’s Super League for the first-time in our history, we faced fellow FA Women’s Championship side, Crystal Palace, in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Jess Naz opened the scoring after converting home from close-range before Ashleigh Neville doubled the score moments before the break. Coral-Jade Hines grabbed the third to secure our progression into the next round of the competition.

2019/20 - Spurs 5-0 Barnsley

It was a comfortable display at the Hive as we ran out comfortable 5-0 winners over FA Women’s National League Division One North side, Barnsley.

A brace from Rianna Dean, tapping home from close-range before converting from the spot, and a wonderful free-kick from Siri Worm put us in control at the break. Gemma Davinson and Elisha Sulola put the icing on the cake in the second half, with the latter scoring her first goal for the Club.  We would go onto reach the quarter-final stage of the competition, beating Coventry United before being knocked out by Arsenal.

Reading 2-3 Spurs (a.e.t) - 2020/21

A five-goal thriller at the Madejski Stadium in this year’s FA Cup fourth round as we ran out 3-2 winners over Reading, with Naz scoring the winner after extra-time following a 2-2 draw in the 90 minutes.

The hosts broke the deadlock through Fara Williams, but we equalised eight minutes later, a lovely free-kick from Alanna Kennedy. Rachel Williams put us ahead three minutes after the restart with a left-footed strike into the bottom corner, however, Rachel Rowe drew the hosts level just a minute later.

The game went into extra-time and Naz stepped up just three minutes, calmly slotting the ball past the goalkeeper after an outstanding through ball from Neville to book our progression into the next round.

Spurs 5-0 London City Lionesses - 2022/23

It was a comfortable afternoon at Brisbane Road as we secured a 5-0 victory over FA Women’s Championship side, London City Lionesses, in last season’s fourth round cup tie.

Bethany England handed us the lead, converting from Rosella Ayane’s cross, before Mana Iwabuchi doubled our tally ahead of the break, finding the back of the net from the 18-yard box. Drew Spence added a third shortly after half-time and Eveliina Summanen was involved in the final two goals – forcing a Harley Bennett own-goal before grabbing one herself late on.
