Tanganga hits first senior goal in big win for Millwall

Japhet Tanganga headed home his first ever senior goal and was named the supporters' Man of the Match as he helped loan side Millwall to a huge three points against high-flying Southampton on Saturday afternoon.

Making his fifth start for the Lions, whom he joined on loan last month, the Academy graduate found himself furthest forward as George Saville hung up a free-kick from deep on five minutes to beat the on-rushing Gavin Bazunu and head in the opener in Millwall's 2-1 win.

He then cleared the ball off the line as Che Adams looked certain to equalise for the Saints before the forward did get his side back on terms on 34 minutes. Yet, the London outfit did go on to claim all three points as Zian Fleming scored the winner from the spot 10 minutes later.

With Neil Harris returning to the Club during the week, it marked Millwall's first win in the Championship since New Year's Day and saw them rise to 20th, one point clear of the relegation zone.

After the game, Millwall fans voted Japhet as their Man of the Match following his performance at St Mary's.
