Brennan on his late winner against Brighton: “Moments like that are what you dream of as a player”

Brennan Johnson said his dramatic winning goal felt like it happened ‘in slow motion’ after he delivered the knockout blow against Brighton on Saturday.

The flying forward made sure he was in the right place at the right time to convert Heung-Min Son’s inch perfect cross as we ticked into the sixth minute of added time at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

I just had to make sure I got it in! It felt like it was all in slow motion but to score, it’s a special feeling

It was a carbon copy of Brennan’s recent goal in the 3-2 win against Brentford and speaking to The Review Show afterwards, the 22-year-old underlined the importance to the squad of the 2-1 victory, making it six wins and just one loss in our last nine in the Premier League.

“It’s a really important result,” he said. “In the first half, we didn’t play as well, but to get the three points, especially late on, is an unbelievable feeling. It’s so special. Moments like that are what you dream of as a player.

“Even when I was on the bench, I knew when we came on, there is so much good quality in the team, coming on with a player as good as Sonny, who, when he gets that ball down the left-hand side, is unbelievable, off both feet, I just had to make sure I got it in! It felt like it was all in slow motion but to score, it’s a special feeling.

“The performance wasn’t as good and in the first half, Brighton showed how good a team they are, they have some unbelievable players, and their system is really good. So, to get the win, it feels good because we weren’t at our best and to get three points going into another tough game next week is what we needed.”

Next up, another Saturday 3pm (UK) kick-off this weekend as Wolves visit Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
