While full of disappointment that we couldn't get the job done on his debut, Dominic Solanke believes there is a lot to look forward to this season after encouraging signs in Monday night's opener at Leicester.
In the curtain raiser for our 2024/25 campaign at the King Power, we dominated proceedings throughout the 90 minutes but lacked a clinical edge as we were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw with the Foxes.
We enjoyed copious chances and played some excellent football to create the opportunities but, after Pedro Porro's opener on 28 minutes, we just couldn't find a way to build on that advantage.
And ultimately, as it is in this game of fine margins, we were punished by the newly-promoted Foxes who levelled on 57 minutes through Jamie Vardy to see the points shared on opening day - a result which left the players bitterly frustrated.
I think we played well at times, we just weren't clinical enough but there's a lot to look forward to.
"We're disappointed not to get the three points," Debutant Dom reflected at full-time. "Going into every game, that is what we want, to get the three points. We want to achieve big things this season.
"I think we played well at times, we just weren't clinical enough but there's a lot to look forward to.
"It's quite frustrating not to get the three points having played well and dominated the game for the majority but, like I said, it's the first game. We wanted to get the three points but hopefully we can put it right in the next game."
Despite the disappointment of the result, it was still a proud night for Dom as he led the line on his debut for the Club.
Having been with us for just over a week, it was a moment the forward was eager the realise and he's looking forward now to many more minutes in a Spurs shirt.
"It was great," he smiled at the King Power. "I've been here now for just over a week and I've been looking forward to this moment.
"It was great to play with the boys in front of the fans but it was disappointing not to get the three points. We'll look at it and improve on it and hopefully get the three points next time."
