Ashleigh Neville on Women’s FA Cup clash: “It's going to be a good one”

Mon 08 April 2024, 12:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Ashleigh Neville is looking forward to returning to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for our Adobe Women’s FA Cup semi-final clash against Leicester City on Sunday afternoon (12pm UK) – secure your tickets now!

It will be our first ever appearance in the final four of this competition after we overcame Sheffield United, Charlton Athletic and, last time out, Manchester City in the previous rounds, beating the three-time FA Cup winners on penalties following heroics from Becky Spencer as she saved the opening two spot-kicks from City and inspired us to a 4-3 win in the shootout.

Our meeting with the Foxes will be the ninth game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and we have enjoyed some memorable memories in N17, most notably, our 1-0 victory over Arsenal in December, 2023, which was our first win over the Gunners in our team’s history.

We are completely focused on the task at hand against Leicester City and we will prepare like it’s any other game.

‘Ash’, who reached 150 appearances for the Club in our 1-0 win over Bristol City last month, was part of the squad that played at the world-class stadium for the first time in 2020 and the defender is excited to be heading back there this weekend.

“It's going to be a good one,” our number 29 said when asked about the semi-final clash. “We have never been in the semi-final of this competition, so that’s a positive and it’s going to be at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which will be great and I hope we can see plenty of supporters there.

“Leicester City are an excellent side and I enjoy playing against them because it’s quite an aggressive encounter and it should provide a thrilling contest for everyone there.

“You know at the back of your mind that if you win, then you are at Wembley. However, we don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves, we are completely focused on the task at hand against Leicester City and we will prepare like it’s any other game.

“Of course, there will be a little more pressure for it being a semi-final and at the stadium, but I think we are prepared for that. I mean, it’s great for both teams to be in that position where whoever wins will go to the final for the first time.”
