Eventful night for Parrott as Excelsior claim huge win

Troy Parrott grabbed both a goal and assist to help his loan side Excelsior Rotterdam move away six points clear of the relegation with a 4-0 win over Volendam on Friday night, before he was shown a red card after the final whistle.

Back in action after injury kept him out the Dutch outfit's last five league games, the forward flicked on a corner for Lazaros Lamprou to head home Excelsior's second on 43 minutes before he fired in their third with a clinical finish 10 minutes after the interval.

The night would end bittersweetly Troy however as, after the final whistle, an incident involving Volendam forward Safouane Karim saw the Irishman shown a straight red card.

A relegation 'six-pointer', the result ended Excelsior's run of 11 games without a win and was their first win since mid-January. It also moved them up to 15th in the table, six points clear of opponents Volendam, whom occupy the final automatic relegation place, and one point ahead of RKC Waalwijk, who sit in the relegation play-off place.

Troy now has 12 goal involvements (eight goals, four assists) in just 15 starts in the Eredivisie.
