What is the team news?

Brennan Johnson has been ruled out of Saturday’s clash after being forced off with a muscular issue at Arsenal last weekend.

Ange Postecoglou confirmed on Friday afternoon that both James Maddison and Heung-Min Son have trained this week after they also departed the action early at the Emirates, but both will need to be assessed ahead of our meeting with the Reds.

Rodrigo Bentancur, Bryan Gil, Ryan Sessegnon, Giovani Lo Celso, Ivan Perisic and Alfie Whiteman remain out.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is back in training after a hamstring problem and could feature for the Reds.

However, Stefan Bajcetic (calf) and Thiago Alcantara (hip) remain out.

Who is the referee?

Simon Hooper will take charge of Saturday’s game, assisted by Adrian Holmes and Simon Long.

The fourth official will be Michael Oliver.

On VAR duties will be Darren England and assistant Dan Cook.

What colours will the teams be playing in?

We’ll be in our 2023/24 all-Lilywhite home strip, with our goalkeeper in light blue.

Liverpool will wear their familiar all-red kit, with their goalkeeper in black and grey.

What will the weather conditions be like?

It’s due to be dry and bright in north London on Saturday. Temperatures should reach 19 degrees during the game.
