Vincent Kompany was full in his praise of Ange Postecoglou as they prepare to lock horns in the Premier League at Turf Moor on Saturday (3pm).
The pair have actually crossed paths before - Kompany was in his pomp as one of the best central defenders in the world when he lined-up for Belgium against Ange's Australia side in a friendly back in 2014. Belgium won 2-0 in Liege.
A legendary former captain at City, where he won 10 major honours, including four Premier League titles, Kompany led Burnley back to the top flight at the first attempt by taking the Championship title last term.
I've been following Ange Postecoglou for a long time... I enjoy watching his teams and I'm sure Spurs fans will too
He said: "I've been following Ange Postecoglou for a long time. You can see his team play the same way in Japan, Celtic and now Tottenham.
"These managers have a very clear idea of what they want to achieve. His mentality and competitiveness is something that will eventually lead to results. I enjoy watching his teams and I'm sure Spurs fans will too."
Asked about Saturday's encounter, he added: "There’s no such things as easy games in this league, we have to prepare for every game for the best way possible and be at our best to try get a result.
“Our team have shown something to look forward to and we need continue to build on that, whether it's against Tottenham on Saturday or any other opposition. We always focus on ourselves and our own improvements but we still think we can get a result on Saturday if we do that."
