Spurs v Fulham | Ange’s preview: “I’m looking forward to a cracking atmosphere again on Monday night”

Mon 23 October 2023, 12:45|Tottenham Hotspur

There’s a sense of ‘home sweet home’ for Ange Postecoglou as the team returns to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the first time in over three weeks as Fulham come to N17 for Monday Night Football in the Premier League this evening (8pm).

Five of our eight unbeaten matches so far in the Premier League have been on the road - Brentford, Bournemouth, Burnley, Arsenal and Luton - with only three home matches since 2023/24 kicked off on 13 August, three wins against United, Sheffield United and Liverpool. By comparison, by this time last season, we’d had eight. It’s also Ange’s first game in charge under the lights at the stadium.

What's really important is we've got a real tough game on Monday night against a strong Premier League opponent - we have to be ready

Fulham arrive here sitting 13th with decent away displays so far - they won at Everton and took points at Arsenal and Palace. “They’ve been really consistent, as they were last season,” said Ange, the Premier League’s Manager of the Month for August and September. “Marco is an outstanding Premier League manager, and this will be a good test for us.

“We've only had three home games so far, five away from home, so that's been a challenge in itself because we've seen, particularly at our stadium this year, we've had three cracking games and the supporters have helped us in that.

“Whatever the challenge is before you, multiple away games or three in London (our next three are Fulham, Palace and Chelsea), that's the challenge. We just have to maintain real focus around the challenge we have and that we don't allow ourselves to think about what's gone before us and, more importantly, what's too far ahead of us.

“What's really important is we've got a real tough game on Monday night against a strong Premier League opponent. We have to be ready. I’m looking forward to a cracking atmosphere again on Monday night, you know the atmosphere will be super at the stadium and I’m sure the boys are looking forward to it.”
