Sonny nominated for Premier League Player of the Month award

Thu 05 October 2023, 11:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Heung-Min Son has been shortlisted for the EA Sports Premier League Player of the Month award for September.

Sonny, our skipper, has enjoyed a sensational September having scored six goals across our matches as we continued our unbeaten start to the campaign.

Having been moved to the central striker role for our opening outing of the month - a trip to face Burnley at Turf Moor - Sonny made the perfect start to September, hitting a hat-trick, his first in a year, in Lancashire as we ran out 5-2 winners.

He then became the first Spurs player in Premier League history to score a brace at the Emirates as we drew 2-2 in the north London derby - his second goal being his 150th in our colours - before he struck against Liverpool in Saturday's dramatic 2-1 win - that was his 200th senior club goal.

Our number seven is bidding to win the award for a fourth time having previously picked up the prize in September, 2016, April, 2017, and October, 2020 - and it could be just the fourth time in our history that our players have picked up the award in consecutive months after James Maddison was named the Player of the Month for August.

To claim the honour though, he will have to fight off competition from Manchester City's Julian Alvarez, West Ham United's Jarrod Bowen, Wolves' Pedro Neto, Liverpool's Mohamed Salah, Newcastle United's Kieran Trippier and Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins.

But, as usual, you can help Sonny to be named Player of the Month by voting for the forward via the link below. Voting is now open and will close at 12noon on Monday 9 October.
