Local children were bowled over as they were joined by Oliver Skipp for a cricket skills session on Thursday.

As the Cricket World Cup begins in India this week, Skippy, a keen cricketer as a youngster, put local children through their paces as they practiced their bowling, batting and fielding.

Coaches from Tottenham Hotspur Foundation led the session offering tips to the enthusiastic youngsters with Skippy lending a hand by showing off his own cricketing skills.

Afterwards he took part in a Q&A with the children and was quizzed about the other sports he played growing up, before signing autographs and taking photographs in the playground opposite Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Skippy said: “It was great fun meeting the children. I played cricket as a youngster, so it was fantastic to see so many getting involved in the sport. Seeing them learn new skills and having fun with friends is what it’s all about."

Speaking after the session, Head of School, Natasha Bracken said: “We were delighted to welcome Skippy to our school. It was a really fantastic opportunity for the children to meet one of their heroes and a memorable afternoon for everyone involved.”

One participant added: “I couldn’t believe it when Skippy joined us in the playground! It was very exciting to meet him in person and I had a fun afternoon."
