Vicario shortlisted for Premier League Save of the Month

Thu 02 November 2023, 14:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Guglielmo Vicario has been shortlisted for the Castrol Premier League Save of the Month for the third month in a row.

'Vic' has made a flying start to life in England to sit joint-top of the of the clean sheets charts on four and has the highest save percentage (82.9%) of any goalkeeper in the league from his 34 saves - with one of those nominated as one of the top in the division for October.

Coming in our 2-0 win over Fulham at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 23 October, our Italian goalkeeper was called upon to deny the visitors from taking a first-half lead that would have changed the complexion of the clash. With the score goalless, Andreas Pereira's outswinging corner was well met by Joao Palhinha whose powerful header from 12 yards out appeared to be sailing into the net only for the 27-year-old to produce a superb full-stretch save to his left.

This wasn't the only time Vicario's shot-stopping heroics were needed last month. In our next fixture away to Crystal Palace, the former Empoli player earned recognition from Club captain Heung-Min Son following his key role in us gaining maximum points in October with a 2-1 win at Selhurst Park, keeping the Eagles at bay with two class saves inside the first 10 minutes.

Watch - Vicario's save against Fulham

He has competition in the form of Alisson (for Liverpool vs Brighton), Wes Foderingham (for Sheffield United vs Manchester United), Alphonse Areola on two occasions (for West Ham United vs Aston Villa and Everton) and Thomas Kaminski (for Luton Town vs Aston Villa).

As usual, your votes can help Guglielmo take the prize, so show you support to our Italian stopper by voting for him via the link below. Voting is now open and closes at 2pm on Friday 10 November.
