As we enter this period of Remembrance, the Club will be paying its respects to those that have made the ultimate sacrifice in armed conflict and showing support for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.

Our Men’s and Women’s players will be wearing special edition poppy shirts over the next two match rounds, including our Premier League games at home to Chelsea (November 6) and away to Wolves (November 11), and our home WSL matches against Everton (November 5) and Liverpool (November 12).

Ahead of kick-off at our Premier League home match with Chelsea, poppy wreaths will be laid on the pitch by a fan of each club, both of whom are Chelsea Pensioners – armed forces veterans who reside at the Royal Chelsea Hospital.

Brian Trevor Connor served in the Intelligence Corps for 19 years, performing several roles covering security, intelligence, photography and as a Chinese Interpreter, serving in Northern Ireland, Belize, West Germany and nine years in Hong Kong.  Brian has resided at the Royal Chelsea Hospital since December 2018. He has been a Spurs supporter since 1960 yet, due to his work overseas with the Army, did not see a live match until our Carabao Cup semi-final with Chelsea in 2019. He is now a One Hotspur Member and regular at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Alongside Brian will be fellow Chelsea Pensioner and Chelsea fan Walter Swann, who joined the Royal Air Force in the early 1950s and then the Army for nine years, including being stationed in Colchester, Cyprus and Northern Ireland.

Any former soldier of the British Army over the age of 65, who is facing spending their advanced years alone, can apply for residence at the Royal Chelsea Hospital as a Chelsea Pensioner.

The wreath laying carries extra significance on this the first Remembrance service since the passing of Brian and Walter’s Chelsea Pensioner colleague and much-loved member of the Spurs family, Cpl Dave ‘Tottenham Thommo’ Thomson, following a long battle with illness earlier this year. ‘Thommo’ memorably laid a poppy wreath on the pitch during the first Remembrance service held at our new stadium in November, 2019.

The Chelsea Pensioners will be accompanied onto the pitch by Flight Lieutenant Kevin Holmes, serving pilot in the Royal Air Force and Co-Chair of our Armed Forces Spurs Official Supporters’ Club.

We shall then observe a period of silence, during which The Last Post will be played by Cpl (Retired) Andrew Lofthouse – former Principal Trumpet of the Central Band of the Royal Air Force. This period of silence will start and end on the referee’s whistle – fans entering the stadium at this time may be restricted from accessing the seating area while the silence is in progress.

A Remembrance service will also be held ahead of kick-off at our home Women’s Super League match against Liverpool Women at Brisbane Road on Sunday 12 November – further details will be communicated in due course.

Our ever-popular Spurs Poppy pin badges are now on sale online and at the Tottenham Experience for a donation of £6 to the Royal British Legion. Fans will be able to bid for signed match-worn poppy shirts via MatchWornShirt.com/poppy, with proceeds going to the Royal British Legion.

As well as having the chance to bid on match-worn signed shirts, fans will be able to enter an online draw to win a shirt that has been signed by the First Team squad. Further details can be found here.
