Sonny on Ange's influence | Matchday programme exclusive

Heung-Min Son might be leading by example as we’ve stormed to the top of the Premier League table this season, but the skipper insists that most of the credit for our fine start should go to his boss.

The South Korean has been in excellent form this term, scoring eight goals in 10 league matches and embracing the responsibility handed to him when named club captain. However, he was quick to praise the man who gave him the armband - Head Coach Ange Postecoglou - and believes his profound impact in the dressing room has galvanised the team’s performances and sees him as the perfect fit for the current crop of players.

Speaking in the matchday programme for Monday’s big London derby against Chelsea, Sonny explained: “I think he's really special.

“It's been a fantastic journey for him and for us so far, the way he speaks during his pre-match team talks are incredible. It makes me feel like my heart is bouncing and feel like I want to go out there and give my all for him and this Club, so this has made a huge difference.

“He’s the type of manager that is always looking for ways to improve and the way he approaches each game and his style of play is perfect for our group of players. We have a clear understanding of what he wants which is important for the team and I think he's doing a fantastic job.”
