Joe Rodon was involved in Wales’ goal, but it was a story of frustration for our Welsh trio overall as a 1-1 draw away to Armenia on Saturday afternoon left their country’s hopes of automatic qualification for Euro 2024 in limbo.
Cancelling out an early opener for the hosts, on-loan defender Joe attacked Connor Roberts’ throw-in and his flick-on forced Armenia’s Nair Tiknizyan to head into his own net just before half-time.
However, the result means Rob Page’s men are no longer in control of their own destiny in qualifying for next summer’s tournament – they must now beat Group D leaders Turkey on Tuesday and hope that Croatia drop points over their next two games. Wales could still qualify via the play-offs in March, however.
Joe and skipper Ben Davies completed the full game at the back for Wales, while Brennan Johnson stepped off the bench five minutes into the second half.
