Unai Emery is relishing the challenge of facing us at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as we return to Premier League action on Sunday (2pm).
The teams sit fourth and fifth after 12 games with Villa one of the league's in-form teams - six wins and a draw from their last eight matches and 27 goals so far, a goal tally bettered only by Manchester City.
Emery has completely turned around Villa after arriving in November last year. They were 16th at that time, but climbed to seventh and qualified for the Europa Conference League. That form has continued this term, indeed, since the end of this season’s first international break (16 September onwards), Villa have won more games (six) and picked up more points (19) than any other side in the Premier League.
We are playing away as well so we have to be competitive, we have to adapt to them and we have to try to impose our game plan
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Emery said: “It’s amazing, the match we are going to play on Sunday. They are playing brilliant, they are really being a very difficult team this season.
“They are very strong at home and we are going to play against them fighting face-to-face, wanting, having a very good season and being with them.
“Of course, it’s a very big challenge for everybody. We are playing away as well so we have to be competitive, we have to adapt to them and we have to try to impose our game plan.
“I am very motivated for Sunday. The players, as a team, I think they are as well very well motivated after the break. This morning we were speaking about how we can focus 100 per cent on the match and the three days we are going to prepare for it. I think we are ready.”
