Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg helped Denmark rubber-stamp their place at Euro 2024 with a 2-1 home win over Slovenia on Friday night.

Midfielder Pierre again completed the full game, with the result ensuring the Danes will finish top of Group H in qualifying for next summer’s tournament.

Elsewhere on Friday, Italy won 5-2 at home to North Macedonia to ensure they only need a draw against Ukraine on Monday to book their place at the Euros, although Guglielmo Vicario wasn’t involved in the matchday squad after reportedly suffering from illness earlier in the week.

Yves Bissouma was an unused substitute for Mali as they began their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign with a 3-1 victory at home to Chad, while young goalkeeper Josh Keeley was between the sticks for Republic of Ireland Under-21s as they suffered a 3-2 defeat away to Norway in European Under-21 Championship qualification – their first loss in pursuit of a place at the tournament.
