Skipper Shelina Zadorsky has issued a rallying cry to to supporters attending Saturday’s double-header at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Referencing the 4.15pm kick-off in the Barclays Women’s Super League against Reading, which follows the Men's Premier League game against Brentford, Shelina said: “It’s football in the best stadium in the country, so stay to support Spurs Women! We’re ready to put on a show, get the win and enjoy it.”

With everything still to play for and both sides fighting for to secure their WSL status, our Canadian captain can’t wait to get started.

“We’re all excited,” she said. “This is a must-win game for us and we’re very cognisant of where we are in the table and taking accountability for that as players, but in training there has been good energy and we’re really pushing to get a good result in front of our fans at home.

“We know how important the game is. We need to enjoy it and find a way to win.”

Highlights - Reading 1-2 Spurs | October, 2022

Previous encounters against Reading this season have seen us win 2-1 in the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup, lose 1-0 in the WSL, and draw 0-0 in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup before being knocked out on penalties.

“They have threats, a good midfield and strikers who have pace,” Shelina added. “It’s going to be one of those games where we’re going to need to put everything on the line and it won’t always be pretty because we’re both fighting for so much, but we’re ready for that, to make a statement and make our fans proud at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“It would mean the world to win. Reflecting on this year, it has been challenging, not only for myself but the staff as well. This is an opportunity to seize the moment as a team, come away with a win and set ourselves up for the last one.”

Lastly, Shelina had a message for the supporters who have followed us home and away throughout the 2022/23 campaign.

“Support is everything,” she said. “At this age, I’m pushing for as much support as I can. That’s what the game is about and what we need more of. We really appreciate it and it’s the best thing about football, sharing it with the fans. I just want them to know that we’re really thankful and can’t wait to see them on Saturday.”
