Lucas on N17 Live | ‘I don’t have the words to thank everyone enough’

After last week’s announcement that he would be leaving the Club, his final appearance for us at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, leading our lap of appreciation and an outpouring of emotions, it was time for one final interview for Lucas Moura.
A player who will be forever remembered for his dramatic hat-trick at Ajax to take us into the 2019 UEFA Champions League Final, Lucas has made 220 appearances in all competitions since joining us from PSG in January, 2018.
Lucas’ consistency in four seasons - 2018/19 to 2021/22 - was quite something, as he featured in 191 of our 221 matches but, unfortunately, this season has been a different story as injury has restricted him to 18 appearances with one match remaining at Leeds on Sunday.
After a few more tears on an emotional lap of the stadium on Saturday, the man from Sao Paulo, Brazil, joined us on N17 Live for a final few thoughts…

“It’s a mix of emotions... it’s very hard to say goodbye, especially when you love the place you are, when you love your team-mates. It has been a pleasure, five years was amazing, so special. I’m so grateful. I don’t have the words to thank everyone enough. I cannot explain how I’m feeling, how grateful I am, how happy I am, all the affection. These years have been unbelievable. Like I said, I don’t have the words to explain how I’m feeling. I will miss it a lot, the stadium, the players, all the people who work at the club, the atmosphere, I will miss it all. I have enjoyed this adventure and what makes it even more special is that I had my second son here and my family have grown up watching me play here at this stadium. When they are older, I will show them the video, and they will be proud. Now, we keep going and wait for the next challenge. It’s difficult to say more… I’ve already cried a lot. I will keep every moment in my heart - and I will be back.”
