Bethany England won both Player of the Season awards and Ashleigh Neville collected Goal of the Season during our 2022/23 awards presentation after our final home match of the season against Reading on Saturday.
Bethany was named Player of the Season by adult supporters and junior supporters.
After joining us in January, Bethany made an instant impact in our fight for Barclays Women’s Super League survival. She’s scored 11 goals in 13 games in all competitions since her arrival from Chelsea.
Ten of those have come in the WSL, including a brilliant strike against Manchester United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
England’s stunner against Leicester City in March saw us claim our first three points under Interim Head Coach Vicky Jepson, and Bethany went on to score in her next two visits to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as well, against Brighton and Reading. She has twice been nominated for the WSL Player of the Month award this season.
Speaking to stadium host Paul Coyte after receiving her awards, Bethany told the fans: “This Club deserves to stay up. I’m so chuffed for the girls and we move on to next season. I can’t thank the Club enough for bringing me in and showing the belief and support in me. The girls have been exceptional, it’s like a family.”
Meanwhile, Ashleigh picked up the fan-voted Goal of the Season award for her outstanding effort from long-range on the opening day of the campaign against Leicester at the King Power Stadium.
