Emerson Royal has been nominated for February’s Player of the Month Award.
Having endured something of a rollercoaster career so far in lilywhite, Emerson has really found a turn of form since making his return to our starting XI in January’s trip to Manchester City.
A goalscorer that night in Manchester, his renaissance continued into February as we welcomed City to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. We won 1-0 that afternoon thanks to Harry Kane’s record-breaking strike but much credit had to be paid to our Brazilian full-back who man-marked one of the Citizen’s chief creative threats, Jack Grealish, out of the game.
That performance was then followed up by back-to-back stand-out displays as we defeated both London rivals West Ham and Chelsea 2-0, with Emerson finding the target against the Hammers.
Shortlisted for the first time for the award, our number 12 is in the running against five other players: Leicester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho, Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, Marcus Rashford of Manchester United and Fulham duo Bernd Leno and Manor Solomon.
As usual, fan votes will help to decide the winners - cast your vote via the link below to give your backing to Emerson. Voting closes at 12 noon on Monday 6 March.
