Rehanne: “The players worked incredibly hard”

Sun 12 March 2023, 16:45|Tottenham Hotspur

Rehanne Skinner commended the work rate of the players in Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Liverpool in the Women’s Super League at Prenton Park.

“The players have worked incredibly hard from start to finish today,” she said. “We couldn’t quite get the luck that we needed.”

We took the lead through Rosella Ayane in the 18th minute, but Emma Koivisto pulled one back moments later before Missy Bo Kearns made it 2-1 to the home side.

“It’s incredibly disappointing to come away from home and put everything into it and we lose the game through a clear offside goal,” Rehanne said.

“That’s the bottom line and it’s really difficult to take. That’s the difference between taking at least a point out of the game. We’re incredibly frustrated by that and the way that that’s come about. It’s not good enough.

“I’m disappointed for the fans who travelled and for all the players who’ve worked really hard all the way through. We can’t keep having conversations like this in games.”

Next up, we host Leicester City at Brisbane Road for a 7pm kick-off on Wednesday evening.

“We’ll continue to work hard and keep fighting for points,” Rehanne said. “We just need to ensure that we’re on a level playing field when we go into those situations. We’re going to keep trying to turn the luck around for ourselves.”
