Kerys Harrop was keen to take the positives from Sunday’s game against Manchester City in the Women’s Super League.

“We were under pressure in the first 20 minutes and I think we did well to weather the storm,” she said. “They had a lot of crosses and corners so we had to defend.

“When you’re playing against top teams, it’s important that you’re staying in the game. We were pleased to go ahead. It was a high and then a low of conceding right before half-time. We were in the game but made mistakes at our end and weren’t able to keep the ball enough and that cost us in the end. We fought a valiant display and those errors can be costly.

“We had some chances with Celin and a good couple of opportunities from through balls so we can take the positives. We have to reflect and move on. We’ve got a big game coming up against Liverpool which is a must win really. We need to deliver the positive aspects more consistently.

“We knew that Man City were quite narrow in their shape so we knew the importance of switching it and that’s what we did. We switched it out to Ash, Ros put a great cross in and Celin was up there to join in the attack. Great finish from Celin so it’s good that we’re getting those chances and scoring goals. We’ve got to work a bit more defensively now.”
