Our Under-18s continued to make the most of their time in Ireland on Thursday by taking on a woodland escape room before meeting up with members of our Cork City Spurs Official Supporters’ Club.
On a four-day pre-season training camp in Cork, the squad trained as usual in the morning before being divided into groups of four for a team bonding escape room exercise after lunch in a woodland-area at the Fota Island resort where they’re staying.
The players and staff then met up with a delegation from Cork City Spurs, our Official Supporters’ Club in the city and one of several fan groups due to attend Friday’s friendly against Cork City Under-19s, to learn more about the far-reaching impact of Tottenham Hotspur and the lengths our fans all over the world go to in order to support our Club.
On behalf of Cork City Spurs, Niall O’Keeffe, Barry O’Brien, Gary O’Brien, Cillian Byrne and Mark Byrne then presented the squad with a commemorative glass gift to mark the Club’s visit to their city. In return, defender James Rowswell handed over a pennant signed by the squad as a token of the players’ gratitude.
Friday’s friendly at Bishopstown – Cork City’s training ground – marks the first 90-minute game of pre-season for Stuart Lewis’ new-look squad, with the 11 first-year scholars who joined us full-time at the start of the month continuing to integrate with the group. A number of players had an initial run-out in a 40-minutes-each-way friendly with Charlton Athletic at Hotspur Way last weekend, Mikey Moore, Yusuf Akhamrich and an own goal contributing to a 3-1 win.
The squad will travel back to London after Friday’s game to continue their preparations for the 2023/24 campaign.
