Opening their home Women’s World Cup with a first ever win in the competition, New Zealand’s campaign couldn’t have had a better start.
Hannah Wilkinson scored the only goal of the game in the 48th minute of the Football Ferns’ 1-0 win against Norway on Thursday.
Ria Percival played the full 90 minutes, plus nine minutes of added time, taking her total number of international caps up to 162 at her fifth World Cup.
She had the chance to make it 2-0 in the 90th minute, but her penalty kick hit the crossbar.
New Zealand are now top of Group A ahead of matches against Philippines and Switzerland.
