Asia-Pacific Tour | First training session at the WACA, Perth

Sun 16 July 2023, 17:45|Tottenham Hotspur

Ange Postecoglou and the players stepped out at the famous WACA cricket ground in Perth on Sunday for the first training session of our Asia-Pacific Tour.

Under clear blue skies and 20 degrees heat, with the huge scoreboard reading, 'G'day Spurs, and welcome home Ange', the players were put through their paces on the hallowed turf of one of the most iconic cricket venues in the world.

First up, a traditional welcome to Australia in a Welcome to Country ceremony, a custom performed to offer safe passage and protection to visitors who are granted permission to journey through the country.

After Welcome to Country and pre-activation, the players initially split into four groups for stations in each corner of the ground, sprinting between each after the work was done. Two more ball work sessions followed before the squad was split into three teams, two playing each other in small-sided games while the other went through running drills. The goalkeepers joined in with the final exercise after working with coach Rob Burch through the session.
