Asia-Pacific Tour | Culture, coaching clinics... and a mural

Mon 17 July 2023, 23:00|Tottenham Hotspur

The players were out and about in Perth on Monday, immersing themselves in Australian culture, coaching local children and visiting a new Spurs mural with Ange Postecoglou...

A Spurs mural in Perth

Our squad pose in front of Perth’s latest mural, symbolising community, our journey to Boorloo/Perth and the ancient wetlands of Whadjuk Noongar Boodjar. It was painted in collaboration with First Nations artist JD Penangke, as she shares her cultural connection with the South West of Western Australia.

Players join AIA-supported coaching clinic

Brandon Austin, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Tanguy Ndombele, Richarlison and Emerson Royal joined the fun at a coaching clinic for 50 children from three local community clubs at Balcatta FC, shadowing and taking part in the sessions delivered by our Global Football Development team and supported by AIA, our Global Princile Partner. Aussie Rules legend and AIA Ambassador Shane Crawford was also there to interact with the players.

Destiny and Guglielmo attend coaching clinic with Telethon

Destiny Udogie and Guglielmo Vicario joined our Global Football Development team at Floreat Athena FC to deliver an intimate skills session with children from beneficiaries of Telethon, a charity that supports several initiatives to increase participation in sport for children with disabilities through positive engagement, modified equipment, and specialised program designs. These adaptations allow participants to feel empowered and supported, increasing participation and social wellbeing. To date, they have raised over $528 million which has been distributed to over 100 charitable organisations.

Afterwards, the children were invited to attend our open training session at the WACA - all proceeds to Telethon - where they were joined by 6,000 fans!

Players enjoy a cultural WA experience at Kings Park

Ben Davies, Joe Rodon, Pape Sarr and Davinson Sanchez took the short trip to Kings Park (Kaart Koomba), one of the most popular visitor destinations in Western Australia. Offering panoramic views of the Swan River and Darling Range, it is home to over 324 native plant varieties, 215 known indigenous fungi species and 80 bird species. After a tour of the park, the players were treated to traditional dance and performance, including a local First Nations elder playing a didgeridoo.
