Team news | Spurs vs West Ham | Sarr out, Romero to return

Wed 06 December 2023, 13:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Ange Postecoglou has confirmed Thursday's Premier League clash with West Ham will come too soon for Pape Matar Sarr.

Injured ahead of our Premier League clash with Aston Villa on 26 November, Pape has missed our last two matches through that problem and Ange expects that will remain the case when the Hammers make the trip to north London on Thursday night (kick-off 8.15pm UK).

However, Ange, who was speaking on our pre-match show Inside Spurs, does expect the Senegal international to be back and available for Sunday's visit of Newcastle United.

One player who will return to the fold for tomorrow night's London derby is Cristian Romero, who has now completed his three-match suspension after he was shown a red card for serious foul play in last month's defeat to Chelsea.

"Probably tomorrow (our clash with West Ham) might be a bit too quick for him," Ange admitted. "But he should be available for Sunday.

"In terms of from last week, (Cristian) Romero is back and available, which is great and everyone else got through the game well off the weekend. The rest of the injuries are more longer term."

Those long-term absentees are James Maddison, Ivan Perisic, Ryan Sessegnon, Manor Solomon, Rodrigo Bentancur, Ashley Phillips and Micky van de Ven, who remain out of action.
