Martha Thomas made the move to N17 in the summer after joining from Manchester United and she has definitely settled into life in Lilywhite, scoring seven goals in the Women’s Super League so far this season - already her biggest tally in a single season in the WSL after only 10 games.
Arguably, the most memorable one of those came in our final fixture of 2023 as she netted the only goal of the game, prodding home Celin Bizet’s cut-back, in the famous 1-0 victory over Arsenal – our first-ever win over the Gunners.
Her impact has certainly been felt in front of the goal, but Robert has been delighted with other aspects of her game, including her defensive work while becoming provider, registering an impressive assist for Jess Naz’s opener against Arsenal in the Conti Cup earlier this month.
Utilising her expertise in all aspects of the game, Robert Vilahamn has utilised the Scotland international in the number 10 position in our last three fixtures of the year and spoke highly of her impact so far this season.
Robert said: “When you look at what she’s done, she scored a lot of goals at the beginning, but she also did really good defensive work for the team. Then she started to make assists, the link-up play, created chances and now she’s scoring goals again.
“She gives us the goals, the quality, the bravery, the tactical brain to work in a team. If you look at the 10 WSL games so far, I don’t think another player in this league has been as good consistently in every game, in different ways, not just scoring goals. Her impact in this team has been massive.”
