Ben Davies is hoping the connection this current squad and management team has with our supporters will carry us through this difficult period, as we prepare to face Newcastle United this weekend.
The Welsh defender has brought his experience into a side decimated by injuries and suspensions in recent weeks, starting our last four games at the heart of our defence. But, despite having some very good spells in all of those matches and taking the lead in each of them, we only have the one point to show for our endeavours, coming in the 3-3 draw at Manchester City, having lost the other three all by 2-1 scorelines.
Ben has been so impressed with the atmosphere at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season and has seen it go up a level especially when sticking with the side in difficult circumstances. Speaking in an exclusive interview in Sunday’s matchday programme, Ben says he’s confident that will continue for the visit of the Magpies and beyond, as our fans can see the progress being made.
“The atmosphere has been top,” he explained. “We've really seen it go to another level at times. “Yes, we’ve had tough times at home but when they've stuck with us it really is like that 12th man out there.
“This is an exciting style of football that connects with people and what they want to see when they come to games, it’s about watching a team that's trying to score as many goals as they can and entertain the fans.
“You want to see the team having a go and, ultimately, we've done that this year. We've had tough moments, but we've given it a real good go.”
